Gold prices for the latest contract on MCX are trading up by 0.1% at Rs 50,229 per 10 grams. Fittingly, in second place silver (SLV) posted a gain of 47.5%.


Oil (USO) lost two-thirds of its value, while Natural Gas (UNG) dropped 45%.

United States

The S&P 500 climbed 16.3% to end the year at a record, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 44%, its best year since 2009. The rally has been fueled by the big growth stocks like (NASDAQ: TSLA), (NASDAQ: ZM), and other big-name companies that have dominated the headlines this year. In the US, every major index ETF was up at least 3%, every sector was positive, and every international ETF finished in the green. They are also fighting new drug price cutting rules from the Trump administration, which would reduce the industry’s profitability.
During the early days of the Trump presidency, reports of price hikes elicited angry tweets from the president. Today, Wall Street continues to use Zacks research including the Zacks Rank and Zacks Equity Research, which combines the best of quantitative and qualitative analysis. The winning spree continued in December with Trump’s signing of the second round of a virus stimulus deal. Overall, Wall Street is hovering at record highs with global markets too moving along.
The S&P 500, the Dow Jones and the Nasdaq Composite added about 13.2%, 11.9% and 17.3%, respectively, in the past three months (as of Dec 28, 2020). The top-performing ETF in our matrix was the Nasdaq 100 (QQQ), which advanced 48.7% on a total return basis.
